UNDERGRADUATE STUDY PROGRAM PSYCHOLOGY

The Croatian Ministry of Science and Education has approved the new undergraduate study program Psychology and the first generation of students started their study in October 2021.
The program lasts three years, the classes are entirely in English, and graduates obtain 180 ECTS and the title University Baccalaureus of Psychology (univ. bacc. psych.). Students learn about the different psychological disciplines and theoretical orientations, acquire research methodology skills, and obtain a basic knowledge of scientific disciplines that intersect with psychology (e.g., philosophy, anthropology, sociology).

The study program is in full accordance with the requirements of EuroPsy, a European Standard of education and professional training in psychology set by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations. Therefore, the students who complete the program may continue their studies on any psychology master program in the EU.
The annual tuition fee is 6000 Euro, and the enrolment quota is 34 students. Two additional places without tuition are reserved for Croatian students of lower socioeconomic status (for details about requirements, the admissions process, and scholarship selection process, see here).

Classes are hold at the University of Split, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and other parts of the University such as the School of Medicine. The program is taught by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences staff and collaborating teachers from other Croatian and international universities. The mentoring system provides each student with a mentor-teacher who will advise the student regarding the study or specific academic interests. According to the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences regulations, students may also spend one or more semesters at one of the European Universities.

GRADUATE STUDY PROGRAM PSYCHOLOGY

In July 2024, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split was granted a license to conduct a master's university program in Psychology. The program will commence in the academic year 2024/2025. It lasts two years, and the instruction is entirely in English. Graduates will earn 120 ECTS credits and the title University Master of Psychology.

The master's program is designed to provide students with theoretical and methodological knowledge in fundamental and applied areas of psychology, as well as the development of specific professional and generic skills necessary for psychological practice and scientific research work.
The study program is in full accordance with the requirements of EuroPsy, a European Standard of education and professional training in psychology set by the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations.
The annual tuition fee is 6000 euros, and the enrollment quota is 34 students.
The program is delivered by staff from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and collaborators from other Croatian and international universities.

In addition to offering the program in English, a distinctive feature of this program is the extent of practical training included in the curriculum. Students are expected to undertake practical training throughout the entire third semester of the master's program, either within or outside the Republic of Croatia, with a total workload of 270 hours (30 ECTS).

Invitation to an online lecture by Jose Luis Bermudez | Cognitive Sciences, University of Rijeka | 24th October 18.00

Dear students and colleagues,

The Division of Cognitive sciences of the Faculty of Humanities and social science of the University of Rijeka is pleased to invite you to attend the online lecture, with Teams, on Tuesday the 24th of October at 18:00 (Central European Summer Time):

From Cognitive Science to Affective Science

José Luis Bermúdez

Professor of Philosophy and Samuel Rhea Gammon Professor of Liberal Arts
College of Arts & Sciences | Texas A&M University (homepage)

This talk introduces one of the most exciting areas in contemporary cognitive science - the interdisciplinary study of emotions and other affective states. In what is now know known as affective science, emotions and other affective states are treated as multidimensional states that can be studied with a wide range of tools, from behavioral neuroscience and functional neuroimaging to gene-editing technologies. I will introduce some of the key theoretical constructs and techniques before showing how the affective scientist’s toolkit can be applied to illuminate fear.
